Alpha Site
|
P4X-650 is the third Alpha Site established by the SGC in the Milky Way. The previous two are destroyed or made inaccessible by enemy attacks. This planet lies about 640 lightyears from Earth and was uninhabited before the SGC made it its Alpha Site. It has at least one moon and orbits fairly close to a gas giant.
They have built an underground facility inside of a mountain, similar to that of the SGC in Cheyenne Mountain, but smaller, to encompass the Stargate, a Control/Gate Room, storage and living quarters, as well as a bay of F-302:s. This planet is where these craft are tested. There is always a presence of military personnel here. In case of the Earth Gate being unavailable, protocol is for all SG-teams to dial to the Alpha Site and wait there for further instructions. The Alpha Site is also an emergency escape planet, to which the SGC will dial in case of an emergency to evacuate its personnel and other people. The planet is the first offworld locations new SGC military personnel, "Rookies", go to as part of an obligatory two-three week training period before being assigned to an SG-team or other duty at the Mountain. This training must be overseen by at least one senior military staff, preferably from an already established SG-teams, with plenty of experience. The only exceptions to this rule are the oldest of teams (such as SG-1) which was established before any Alpha Site, and John Sheppard who joins the SGC and the Atlantis Expedition so quickly there is no time or resources available for such offworld training. the law of gravityIn 2003, MacGrimmon, Markham, West and Thompson are recruited for to the SGC, and they go to the Alpha Site with Captain Briggs to begin their offworld training.
